Vashon Repertory Theatre produces thought-provoking, intimate, story-driven theatre that brings to light issues meaningful to our time and place on Earth. We aim to be known throughout the Puget Sound region for creating excellent theatre that is inclusive and breaks down barriers of race and gender. In our programming and our engagement, Vashon Repertory Theatre strives to make a difference in our community and the world.

ABOUT

BIPOC Statement

Vashon Repertory Theatre stands in solidarity against systemic racism and the resulting injustices and violence toward our BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) community. We are committed to presenting professional productions of material that is topical, socially relevant and addresses the issues of equity, inclusion, diversity, and accessibility, providing contemporary and historic perspectives to patrons and artists of all backgrounds. We pledge to press ourselves into a future that embraces the redemption that only equality and justice for all can yield. We will repeat and affirm that Black lives matter until it is true throughout our society that all lives DO matter equally and to us all.

Our Core Values

  • We believe in the power of theatre to change lives.

  • We believe that theatre can make a difference in a community and in the world.

  • We believe in intimate, story-driven theatre, not spectacle.

  • We believe in supporting the work of local artists: actors, designers, directors, playwrights.

  • We believe in equal opportunities for all people, no matter the color of their skin or gender preference.

  • We believe in the power of social justice and will do everything we can to end systemic racism in the United States.

  • We strive to make decisions by consensus, and to make every voice heard.

  • We believe in the power of new works, working with emerging artists, especially emerging artists of color.
